Marco Simoncelli - RIP

Marco Simoncelli. No, I will not pretend to have followed his career all along or to quote from rote all his podium wins or teams that he has worked with. I just know that this racer really caught my fancy in MotoGP though I have been really following it only for the past 3 seasons or so.

What really interested me was the fact that he would somehow take positions from seemingly impossible places - overtaking at just the right time, taking calculated risks sometimes that even hardened "veterans" would think twice to! And that crazy hairstyle that he had - his hair peeking out from under his helmet too! I have thought that it would even slow him down sometimes! Just cannot say anymore rather than say that he will be missed. I will miss watching him on his white Honda screaming down at a turn, stick out his lanky leg and try and take the turn full on - with that stupid orange hair sticking out of his helmet, trying to fly away! I am sure he had a crazy grin (picture) stuck on his face everytime he overtook someone. Will miss you Marco! MotoGP has surely lost a "cool" racer!

R.I.P!

And the F1 season ends.....

.....on a really sad note....

I raced like a madman up Hosur Road, leaving office at 12, hoping to catch the last few laps of the Brazilian race. Made it home at 12:20 and by my calculations, there were 25 laps left when I was at office. My calculations said that I would be able to watch the last 5 mins of the race. Alas, when I reached home, all I could see was a dejected Massa walk up to the podium to receive the 1st prize. Damn, but sorry to say that this is the closest Massa will come to becoming a world champion. Next season is surely Kimi.

Belgian Grand Prix update

The Iceman finally lost his head (first time ever I guess) and crashed.....Lewis Hamilton on the other hand, kept his cool and got 1st place.....an awesome ending to the race by Heidfeld who is such a brilliant wet-weather driver and finished 3rd!!.....awesome race.....sad for Kimi though!!

Update - Hamilton was stripped of his first place since he "cut corners" and Massa was given 1st place instead, Nick Heidfeld 2nd and Hamilton down to 3rd....I am just thinking if Hamilton had not cut corners and pushed Kimi, Kimi might have won!!

Force India

Damn, I don't give a damn about this Force India team. A team that is named so, but without an Indian driver for it!!. I don't see any reason why Mallya decided not to have Narain race for him. Some internal wrangling perhaps. Even his manager, Mark Perkins said - "He is the best available racer in the country and Mallya helped him when Narain began his career. But I don't know why he is not considering his countryman now". Its kinda sad to see one Indian with so much of a passion for the sport being sidelined by his own country-man. Reportedly Narain even said that he didn't mind not racing for Force India but felt bad that he was not even given a chance of a test ride!!!. This at a time when Ralf was given a chance. Now you know where I place Ralf when it comes to F1 driving!!.

But there has been a change in the way another team is thinking. It looks like there will be a Super Aguri with another Indian consortium for a possible investment. The Indian consortium is led by the Spice Group, which is currently promoting Indian A1 team. This team specifically only wants Narain to race for them. Well, looks like somebody has a little faith on the small guy from down south after all!!. So good luck to that and lets hope that the "fastest Indian" gets a chance to prove himself in F1.

And Mallya, for all I care, can change his tag of "Force India" to "Force India - Indian Missing". Wait a minute, perhaps he can ask ShahRukh Khan to drive for him!!.
