Mangal Pandey, the Musical..........all hype and no show!!!

Damn! A waste of a 100 bucks at a time when I have none to spare. I wish I had atleast spent it well on 2 bottles of beer. Yeah, thats true, I'd rather waste it on beer rather than sit and watch a stupid hyped up, wasted movie!!

At the very beginning, I really thought that this movie is a musical. It should not have been named as the Rising, call it a musical instead. The Khan guy is a good actor, but I seriously think that he has tried too hard. Take it easy, great theme, pretty ok storyline, but give it to an actor who can play the part - someone like a Kamaal Haasan. Somehow, Aamir did not seem to fit the part quite well. Granted, he has done a decent job, but it was not great.

Then comes this annoying thing about a damn song or chant, if you will of "mangala, mangala" that comes up at very inappropriate moments in the movie. You sit there, enjoying one good scene of the whole movie and it pops up with guys sitting on on elephant singing this. Man, how crude can you get? I have not an inkling on how this can fit in into any movie!! Incredible!!

And the crazy masala! Man, this has always been a staple addition in every damn movie. And there are very few people who have the guts to make a movie without this, or to atleast put it in such a way that it does not seem so blatant. I mean, does a movie with a theme like this really need this many songs?? Crazy holi songs and the lousy song and dance routines. Made me wanna throw up - nearly!! And however much it is great to watch Rani Mukerji dance around in a "nauch" girl costume, it still jars!! Somehow, felt very out of place.

Well, moving on in the movie, the "girl on girl" action song was great and the only no-out-of-place sequence in the whole movie. And you really believed that!! That was also out of place - absolutely!!!! Why do we need this really crazy item numbers in every damn movie, I ask?? I mean, doesn't these songs actaully make us, the viewers fools?? I never did understand songs like that in movies like this. Like I said....all hype, no show....

Or was that all show...no movie. And what may I ask was Amisha doing in that movie. A stellar role, an amazing performance. No, I was not talking about her at all...that was a different movie, a different actor. (would have called her actress, but you see political correctness is the name of the game!!). Even Toby seems to have put in a lousy, lame performance. Unlike his performance on the Bond one. Well, maybe the heat got to him. Yes, I am running out of things to say.

All in all, I should say that it was a pretty boring, unrealistically loony movie. You got a great theme, good enough story line and you screw it up. That has to take a genius to perform.

And more so, I would have loved to tear the movie to shreds, but I think I have managed to only rip it...Eh, hell, everybody knows what a lousy movie it is.....

Bangalored??

Well, well, enough has been said I think of Bangalore's lousy or infact, NON-EXISTENT infrastructure. But still, like kicking a dead horse, you just feel like getting a little blood on your leather boots....

I remember when I came to Bangalore 2 years back, the work was going on on the Domlur Flyover. Well, we all believed that it was a normal thing and that the work would be over soon. And that was 2 years back. Now, I still see that the iron work is still standing, but well, rusted. I shudder to hear that the deadline for this flyover is December 2006. Man, that is more than a year still to go!!!

And to think that they will be building this flyover with the still standing rusted sheets and rods of metal.....thats incredible!. An example in this picure that I took quite near the flyover.....

There have been protests and there have been sit-ins....nothings happened.....

And they have the balls to call this the SILICON valley of India. Give me a friggin break!! Pack your bags and get outta here.....by the way, I am not leaving, I just incite people to do so.... cause I love the prehistoric feel to this city....

Wither Freedom, Independence?????

Fucking stupid! Simple as that.

There is an all nite rock concert (well, not completely rock) that happens on the eve of Independence day every year. Its called Freedom Jam. The link is here. This is a great experience where all kinds of music is played on 3 different stages. The concert goes on from late evening till the early morning of the next day. This was real freedom where we could listen to some great music, drink some beer and handbang all nite to live music.

We look forward to this concert on every August 14. This time, we get the information on the evening of Aug14 that the concert has been postponed for security reasons. The next day, we read in the papers that at the same location, a carnatic concert had taken place. I ask - why no fucking security issues for these artistes?? Damn freedom when you cannot even let a couple of rock bands play all nite. Moral fabric or security reasons??

Trolls!!

Man, I never thought that we would get "spammed" on our blogs too. I can even understand someone leaving inflammatory messages as comments on your blog. But I really cannot understand it when they post in comments with nothing at all connected to the blog!! This is quite insane! I am sure that this is all done the same way there are bots on chat rooms. Makes me want to allow only people who have a blogger id to leave comments on my blog! This continues and maybe I will.....

Fast forward....

I remember the days when we used to listen to music wholly on huge, bulky cassette players. These hulking machines used to be owned by our dads and who were equally protective of these players.

Some years back, we acquired CD players that were capable of only playing CDs. But the good thing here is that you need not even listen to a song completely, you can just press the forward button and it would take you to the next song.

Nowadays and I own a Creative Zen Xtra 30 GB player and have close to 2000 songs on it already. But the good/bad thing is that whenever I put in a whole album by a band in it and I start listening to the songs, whenever a songs riff does not even sound interesting or catchy, most of the time, I just press the button for the next song. But this changed the last time I travelled home. I deliberately put all the songs on the player on a playlist and started playing on shuffle mode. And made it a point to listen to every song from beginnning to end. What came out was lots of lousy music, but some real gems in the process.

Great find...........

Macro Photography

Finally, I have used my new Canon Powershot A510 to take some photographs......I had gone home for the weekend and also 3 days after that, but damned.......fell sick and was taking rest for three whole days....wasted...

Anyway, got some good pictures and macro photography seems to be something I am interested in....take a look at this photo.....

Well, seems that the colour realisation on a Canon camera is really great.......
